Child Arrangements Mediation Package
A structured way to agree arrangements for your children – with a review built in
If you need help agreeing arrangements for your children after separation, you may not need open-ended mediation.
The Child Arrangements Mediation Package gives you a clear structure
2-hour mediation session
plus
1-hour review session
£250 per parent – £500 per family
routine preparation and follow-up at no additional charge
Where your case is eligible and voucher funding is available, the £500 Family Mediation Voucher may cover the full cost of the mediation sessions.
MIAMs are charged separately at £137 per person.
The first meeting gives you time to work through the arrangements you need to make. You can then put those arrangements into practice before returning for a one-hour review to consider what is working and whether anything needs to change.
If you would like to understand the wider process first, read more about Child Arrangements Mediation.
Why This Package is Different
That is why this package includes both an initial mediation meeting and a separate review.
Work Through the Arrangements
Your first 2-hour mediation session gives you time to focus on the issues that need resolving and explore practical options for your children.
Put Them Into Practice
Where you reach proposals you would like to try, you then have the opportunity to see how those arrangements work in everyday family life.
Come Back and Review Them
Your 1-hour review meeting gives you dedicated time to consider what is working, what may need adjusting and whether any further arrangements need to be discussed.
This 2-hour session + 1-hour review structure is designed to give you a clear process without committing you to open-ended mediation.
How the Child Arrangements Mediation Package Works
1. Start With Your Individual MIAM
Each parent attends a separate Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM).
Your MIAM gives you the opportunity to explain your situation privately, understand how mediation works and consider whether mediation is suitable for your circumstances.
MIAM fee: £137 per person
2. Move Into Mediation
If mediation is suitable and you both wish to proceed, you can use the Child Arrangements Mediation Package.
The package costs £500 per family – £250 per parent and includes:
- a 2-hour mediation session
- a 1-hour review session
- routine preparation and follow-up
3. Use the £500 Family Mediation Voucher Where Eligible
If your case is eligible and voucher funding is available, I can apply for the Family Mediation Voucher on your behalf.
The voucher provides up to £500 towards eligible mediation-session costs and may therefore cover the full £500 cost of this package.
The voucher cannot be used towards the cost of your MIAM.
4. Try the Arrangements and Come Back to Review Them
After your first mediation session, you can put any proposed arrangements into practice.
Your 1-hour review meeting then gives you the opportunity to consider what is working, what may need adjusting and whether any further arrangements need to be discussed.
Ready to Find Out Whether the Package Is Suitable for You?
The first step is to complete the Participant Questionnaire.
This gives me some initial information about your situation before arranging your individual MIAM.
Your MIAM is a private meeting with me. It gives you the opportunity to explain what is happening, understand your options and consider whether mediation is suitable for your circumstances.
If mediation is suitable, the other parent will also need to attend their own individual MIAM before joint mediation can begin.
Completing the questionnaire does not commit you to mediation or to the Child Arrangements Mediation Package.
Could You Qualify for Legal Aid for Family Mediation?
Divorce Nicely does not offer Legal Aid.
If you are on a low income, or think that you or the other parent may qualify for Legal Aid, I recommend checking this before booking a private MIAM with me.
Legal Aid may cover the cost of family mediation, including MIAMs and, depending on eligibility, mediation sessions.
You can check whether you may qualify through GOV.UK and find a family mediator who offers Legal Aid through the Family Mediation Council.
Take the First Step
If you would like to explore whether the Child Arrangements Mediation Package could help your family, the first step is to complete the Participant Questionnaire.
I will then review the information you provide and, where appropriate, arrange your individual MIAM.
There is no commitment to proceed with mediation simply by completing the questionnaire.
